FULL DEMO, FITTING And using a REMORA
Full 3min walk-through. Load the board and lock the tail, slide out to surf, back in to depart and demo of lock points - the board into the bag and the bag onto the car.
PART 1 · INSERT AND SECURE THE BOARD
01. Load the board
Slide the board in nose-first until the tip reaches the front tip of the bag.
02. Close the dual zip
Close the tail and engage both YKK® sliders. Set them off-centre to keep them clear of the board.
03. Roll the tail
Hold the tail straight and roll it tightly to the board. Hold it higher as you roll and the bag is left with less slack at the bottom, so it flutters even less.
04. Bring the webbing under
Bring the webbing under the bag and mate the hook-and-loop.
05. Fold the fastener over
Fold the fastener over so it sits flush and firm.
06. Tighten and tuck
Pull the webbing tight and check it twice. Tuck the webbing tail in, or take up the slack with the slack keeper.
1. Bar spacing
- Space your crossbars 80 cm apart, a common spacing recommended by bar manufacturers for compatibility with other accessories.
- Lay the loaded bag centrally across both bars, with the straps falling between the bars.
- For compatible fixed cross bars only, correctly installed and rated for board and bag. Not for a naked roof.
2. Front bar — orange to orange
- Push down on the top of the bag to compress the 23 mm of foam underneath onto the roof bars.
- Pass the mounting strap under the crossbar and push the end through the strap guide, aligning it with the mating orange hook and loop surface. Check the strap path against the warning symbol in the diagram.
- Smooth the strap onto the mating surface, orange loop to orange hook.
- Release the pressure. The bag springs back and pulls the strap tight. Check it is tight. The front straps matter most — they are what holds against the wind pushing the board up.
3. Rear bar — black to black
- Push down on the top of the bag to compress the foam onto the roof bars.
- Pass the mounting strap under the crossbar and push the end through the strap guide. Check the strap path against the warning symbol in the diagram.
- Smooth the strap onto the mating surface, black loop to black hook.
- Release the pressure. Check it is tight.
4. Close the flap
- Fold the closing flap down over both straps and press hard, then smooth it off to secure the outer surface of the straps, like a leg leash.
- Check the hook and loop under the bag is firmly connected as well.
5. Tune the rear straps
- Fine-tune the tension mainly in the rear set of straps.
- Aim for a board that still slides in and out without too much effort, yet is gripped firmly by the foam under the bag so it cannot move around in normal transit.
- Re-check after the first few minutes of driving.

Before you drive
Run this every time before you drive. If anything is loose or unclear, stop and re-do that step — do not set off. If it doesn't feel solidly secured, then do not drive off.
- Crossbars are rated for the load and locked to the vehicle.
- Board fully seated to the front of the bag, zip closed.
- Tail rolled tight; hook-and-loop flush and fully engaged; webbing cinched and tucked.
- Bars spaced correctly.
- Both mounting straps threaded correctly and smoothed onto the mating surface.
- Rear straps tuned — board is gripped by the foam but can still slide in and out.
- Give the whole load a firm shake — no movement on the bars.
- Re-check after the first 5 minutes of driving, then at each stop.
The full pre-drive checklist is in the guide that comes with your Remora.
Caution. Observe your local limits for load height, overhang and speed. A roof load changes how the vehicle handles, so drive to conditions. If in doubt, stop and re-check. The full warnings and warranty are in the guide.
Care and storage
Keep the surfaces clear
Keep hook and loop surfaces clear of wax, sand, hair, water, sticks and other debris and check for wear before every trip.
Dry fully before storage
Dry fully before storage to protect the fabric and the hook-and-loop.
Keep the flap closed
When not in use keep the flap closed over the hook-and-loop straps to protect them all against sand, wax and hair for longest life.
Stow the straps
Keep them tidy, so they are ready for the next surf.
